Lesson 3:HTML

HTML

  • HyperText Markup Language
  • Used for creating websites
  • The newest version is HTML5, is also a programming language
  • Uses tags in angle brackets (<,>)
  • Tags usually open and close
  • To view a site's HTML code,right click and click inspect page element
  • HTML uses CSS to help create websites as well.
  • HTML can be used to create a wide range of websites
  • Can be written in text editors
  • A good programming language to learn

Lesson 2:Web 2.0

Web 2.0

  •  Instead of merely 'reading', a user is invited to 'write' as well, or contribute to the content available to everyone in a user friendly way.
  • Example of sites are the google docs and facebook
  • User Participation- site users add content for others to see
  • Mass Participation
  • User as a Contributor- information flows two ways between site owner and site user by means of evaluation, review, and commenting

    • Portal(website offering services)
    • News(news website)
    • Informational(contains factual info)
    • Business/marketing(promoting products or services)
    • Educational(teaching)
    • Entertainment(offers interractive and fun services)
    • Advocacy(supportive of a motto)
    • Blog(this website)
    • Personal(for an individual)

    History of the internet

    • Networking project by the US
    • To allow scientists from different locations to share infomation
    • Became functional in September 1969
